Board Aid is simple & straight-forward to use, whether you're a qualified professional or a DIYer. Just follow the simple steps below.

STEP ONE

Attach the board aid

+5-10mm from where the end of the board will finish

STEP TWO

Attach the companion to the opposite edge and swing out of the way

STEP THREE

Lift board and lean against the board aids

STEP FOUR

Lift and feed sheet into the board aids

STEP FIVE

Swivel companion to fully support the board

STEP SIX

Board is now fully supported

STEP SEVEN

Fix board with screws

STEP EIGHT

Remove devices and repeat for next board

TOPS TIPS FOR USING BOARD AID

 1. LEAVE ROOM AT THE WALL 

If your plasterboard meets a wall, don’t position the main Board Aid devices exactly where the edge of the board needs to finish.  Instead place the main devices 1-2” slightly further back (green line) than where the board edge will be once fitted (orange line) – this will give you a bit of wiggle room to lift the board in.

 2. Face the wall when you lift the board 

Keep the board between you and the wall, rest it onto the Board Aid devices, then lift it into position.

This gives you more control over the sheet and helps avoid that awkward moment where you end up getting squeezed between the board and wall.

 3.  Give the Board Aid Companion enough clearance 

When positioning the Board Aid Companion, allow at least 45mm between the edge of the new plasterboard and the fixing point. this will prevent any interference when lifting the new board and make for a quicker install.

4. Over-boarding? 

Board Aid has been designed for different installation situations, so make sure you're using the correct fixing holes.

For fixing Board Aid directly to joists, use the two central screw holes.

The channels on the top of the device accommodate different joist widths, helping you position Board Aid correctly before fixing.

For over-boarding, use the two outer screw holes with the longer screws provided.

Taking a moment to choose the correct fixing points helps ensure Board Aid is set up properly for the job you're doing.

5. Board Aid Can Also Be Fitted to Joists at Right Angles

Not every ceiling layout is going to be perfectly convenient.

Board Aid can also be attached to joists at right angles, giving you greater flexibility when deciding where the device needs to sit.

This can be particularly useful when the direction or position of the joists doesn't suit a straightforward installation.
